5.31.01 - 6.13.01

June 13th, 2001
I usually try not to read the spoilers too often but with my interestd in the WCW invasion angle and the fact that they didn't have a WCW character on Monday, I went and checked to see if anyone would appear on Smackdown. As it turns out, tomorrow Miss Hancock/Stacey Kiebler will be coming out with Shane. That's good enough I guess, but what's really worth watching is Tajiri's first televised match for the WWF. I read he does all of the same spots as in ECW and has the same outfit.

Speaking of that WCW invasion angle, I got the new Raw magazine in the mail the other day and there is an interesting ADVERTISEMENT for the next Pay-Per-View following King of the Ring. As you can see, the following PPV is being called Invasion, and I think they put together a really interesting image of Shane and Vince's faces.

Actually, this issue had a lot of interesting articles including the second part of an interview with Paul Heyman, an article on Spike Dudley and Rhyno, an article on Test (he was trained by Bret Hart), and an article on the new MTV series Tough Enough.

The cover feature on Lita was the least interesting part of the magazine for me, but there is a nice poster of her for the fanboys at the centerfold.

Since I mentioned Tough Enough, you can see that the WWF has put the official WEBSITE up. They haven't put much up there yet other than clips (to watch) of the different commercials they've been running on MTV and during Raw and Smackdown, and the press release. But I assume they'll have information posted on the people participating in it soon. THIS is all that MTV has posted on their website for the new show.

It wasn't mine, it was my friend's...

Brian Christopher's "explanation" of his drug possession problems was just ridiculous. I used to use that same excuse in grade school whenever my mother caught me with something I shouldn't have. But after about the 4th grade, I was able to develop more sophisticated and believable lies than what Brian posted on his father's WEBSITE. Benefit of doubt would dictate that maybe this is the truth, but honestly it sounds really shady to me. Also, where's the rest? He was supposed to write more the following day and 6 days later, still nothing. The lives of all 3 Lawlers have been much more exciting to the rest of the world since they got canned from the WWF. What's the fate of 2-Cool? First Scott Taylor is injured, and now Christopher is fired...will Scotty 2 Hotty get a new partner or go singles?

Mondays at 8:00...

I caught that Fear Factor show hosted by the great Joe Rogan Monday before WWF and I thought the show was pretty good. I knew the guy with all the hair was going to quit and not let the rats be put all over him.

This WEBSITE isn't much of a big deal...basically another website by some chick. However, she did have a vein of gold in the form of a page showing X-Rays of people who had gotten some pretty strange objects lodged up their butts. As they said on Seinfeld, "It was a one-in-a-million shot doctor"! See them all HERE.

They'll license anything. Have you seen these WWF BOWLING BALLS? Wrestling fans may buy some weird shit, but I think this picture shows there's worse out there willing to spend their money on dumb crap...

A goddamn Kiss coffin. Where's the idea for this come from? Do you think anyone's bought one to sleep in?

Well, Jerry Lawler posted an update to his WEBSITE, and in his lengthy update he touches on his son Brian Christopher's drug situation. And judging from what he writes, as with most parents, it was more of a surprise to him than anyone else. Here's an excerpt...
I think that disappointment is the only word I can think of to describe my feelings about Brian's situation. I know we are all human, and no one is perfect...we all make mistakes, but if someone had asked me last week "who in the WWF uses drugs?" my answer would have been, "I can't tell you who does, but I can tell you one person that I know doesn't...Brian Christopher." I guess I would have sounded like an idiot, and I feel like one now for not knowing. And I'm sad and disappointed. I can only hope that Brian will learn from his mistake and see how his actions not only effect him but the people that care about him as well. Brian is going to make a public statement about his situation here on my website later this week. I, like all of you will be anxious to hear what he has to say.
I know Jerry is a straight arrow where it comes to booze and drugs, too bad his son isn't nearly as smart.

Speaking of drug abusers, I've been reading online that Eddy Guerrero is having problems with prescription painkillers and that the WWF sent them home because I assume he showed up to work wasted. This is really irresponsible for these guys to think they should even try to wrestle while under the influence. It unfairly puts their friends' lives and careers at a great risk. There's danger enough of being seriously injured every night without your opponent being high on drugs.

While on the subject of disciplinary actions, I'm glad to see shit is still rolling downhill for that cross-eyed loser Saturn. Nothing more humiliating than having to be on national TV and in front of thousands of live people in nothing but women's bra and panties. Maybe he'll learn not to purposefully hurt people in the ring.

On Monday I thought finally, Tazz is having a wrestling match! From fan reactions, I think he should have gone over Rhyno. The place really went nuts both when he came down to the ring, and then when he slapped on the tazzmission.

I think DDP is also close to getting free from AOL. He really wants to work for WWF/WCW ASAP. I keep waiting for him to update his WEBSITE (nothing new since 5/17) and fill us in on what's going on with him.

I went to Rob Van Dam's WEBSITE and I noticed something that I assume means he's signed a deal with them. They have a WWF Shopzone banner ad at the top of the main page. I couldn't tell you how new it is but I can't imagine they'd have it up there unless he's working for them???

Webcam girlies...

I see more and more of these personal websites popping up that are basically teenage girls, their vapid thoughts, and lots of webcam pictures and links. Some of the actual designs are nice but I really haven't seen to many with any content worth reading. DAIGN.COM is a really funny website that basically talks about these girlcam sites and mostly makes fun of them. He really pisses some of these girls off and you can read their hate mail they send him there as well. Any time someone is making fun at someone else's expense its worth checking out...

Fear Factor...

Joe Rogan's new show Fear Factor starts Monday on NBC at 8:00 which is perfect because it doesn't conflict with me watching WWF Raw. Also, Joe is supposed to be on Howard Stern tomorrow morning and I think he is sitting in all morning like AJ Benza did today.

Sued by Starbucks...

I was visiting STEAKANDCHEESE.COM as I do once a week. He sometimes has some cool links and content. He also often discusses comic books which I've become disenchanted with and haven't read in a few years, but I sometimes like to follow what's going on in the hopes that something will entice me enough to buy and read it. Anyway, he had a link to HERE which is a posted article on the Too Much Coffee Man WEBSITE written by comic book artist Kieron Dwyer. In it he tells how he is being sued by Starbucks for a parody drawing he has done of their logo. S&C is right...it is satire, and it is funny. Maybe people should send it around to others even if only just to piss off StarSUCKS.

You never know how censorship in an unrelated area may eventually affect something you do care about. For example...

Is anyone else finding life under this new Nazi Bush regime a little uncomfortable? Read THIS and wonder what else we will be told we can and can't watch and listen to by pricks like John McCain and the FCC. To fine a station for playing the edited version of a song by a grammy award winning artist that has had enormous airplay time already is insane.

Who is aware of the fact that Arizona senator John McCain decicided that YOU shouldn't be able to watch ultimate fighting? Did you know he has had it blocked from being available for you to order on cable PPV? Currently, its only available to those with satellite service. If people keep electing the wrong people into power you may not even have wrestling to watch soon. I had thought Bush's position on censorship was that there's a dial...and if you don't like it, change it or turn it off. Apparently, now that he's in office, that's not the case.

I much preferred watching the Austin/Benoit matches over the Austin/Jericho fight. I think Benoit needs the rub from Austin more than Jericho right now anyway. Reason being, Austin recently turned heel and Benoit recently went babyface...a fight between those two might better cement them in their new roles.

The WCW invasion wasn't quite as interesting this week with Hugh Morrus throwing a moonsault on someone that wasn't even actually in the match. If you're going to crash a party, at least he should have done it on Christian so it had more actual direct impact. No slight on Hugh Morrus, but if you're building toward a storyline, each event should ideally have a greater impact than the preceeding one. I just think Lance Storm was much more exciting than seeing a run-in by Hugh Morrus... And if anything, they should have used Storm again. However it was nice to catch a glimpse at what I think will be the new WCW logo, which looks really good. The WCW WEBSITE already has an update of what happened tonight, and you can see the video clip they showed on the titantron while Hugh Morrus did his run-in.

Jessee Ventura appearing to help set up the main event was a good surprise. I had wondered if he'd be there when I saw they were in Minnesota because there had been some friction after Vince made statements about Jessee's work on the XFL games.

Its always fascinating to read stories online like the one running around now about talks between the WWF and Bret Hart concerning a return. Makes some sense with the show they put on last Monday in front of the Hart family. I guess it would either be with WCW against Vince which might be good for some awesome hoot-style promos like Jessee Ventura did this week, or to come back to the WWF to make the last several years since the original swerve (that made Vince the greatest heel ever) to look like a giant work.

Not to drag a dead and rotting corpse around, but I found this business magazine laying around published before the start of the XFL season that had some photos of Vince promoting the league. Vince looked confident in the photos, I feel bad the league isn't still around. I was really looking forward to the opportunity of buying season tickets after I moved to LA later this year. Now, I'm stuck trying to find a bar that shows Dolphins games as my only football fix.

Sex Machine is a "Dollhead"...

I was up really late the other night and there was an infomercial for some place called nuhart that was offering a special on hair transplants. I saw they had a website and was going to check it out and see if they had any funny before and after pictures. Most times, those transplants make the person's head look like the head of a toy doll...where the hair comes out of distinct and separated holes. Well, I was surprised when I clicked HERE to see that one of their clients was TOM SAVINI.

Tom has been one of the greats in the business of Hollywood special effects and makeup. He's most known I guess for his work in horror movies like the Romero Zombie movies DAWN OF THE DEAD and DAY OF THE DEAD. More recently he's been doing more acting like his role as Sex Machine in From Dusk Til Dawn. He also directs too. I just thought it was kind of funny that he not only had gotten plugs, but had actually provided a VIDEO TESTIMONIAL for them to use.

Well, they had a link to his WEBSITE which also has information about his school. You should check it out when you have a chance there's some interesting stuff there. One thing in particular was some before and after pictures of him participating in a 12 week Muscle Media & EAS transformation contest...see it HERE. Truly amazing for only 3 months.

The WCW WEBSITE was finally updated with the Lance Storm invasion of Raw. Its not much, but I was getting tired of seeing that Panama City image from months ago every time I checked for an update. I'm just glad it was Saturn that got the foot to the face, hopefully it was stiff.

Lance Storm mentioned his appearance on Raw today in his COLUMN.

Rob Van Dam addressed rumors of his signing a WCW contract in a quick message on his WEBSITE.

X-ENTERTAINMENT did an entertaining writeup on these old rubber LJN action figures of the WWF wrestlers you can check out HERE. He even has some cool video captures from the old TV commercials.

Their website has something for everyone, mainly pop-culture things from the 80's. Toys, cartoons, movies, etc. You should visit often as they have new content up several times a week. Below are a few other sites I like to visit:

I knew better than to write about Brian Christopher yesterday. Today I read he was also caught with small amounts of cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine. And believe it or not, he got out of it with $550 in fines and penalties and no permament record of his arrest. Looks like another case of preferrential celebrity treatment. See if I get the same slap on the wrist by a foreign country (Canada) for the exact same thing. What a loser. what possesses you to cross international borders with controlled substances? Good for the WWF, I'm glad they fired him. He deserves it for being stupid enough to A. Be taking drugs, and B. for trying to sneak them into another country.

It was really cool to see Lance Storm on Raw Monday. Since they were in Canada, you kind of half expected it, but I still jumped up and got excited when he ran in and did his kick. I hope they keep going with this WCW invasion, and we see a few more guys doing run-ins. Lance Storm is one of my favorites, his column on his WEBSITE is also always a good read.

From a good Canadian appearance to a bad one. They had Stu Hart front row with a large percentage of his offspring at the Monday Raw. Stu looked half dead and they literally had to prop him up and work him like a marionette. He reminded me a little of Kirk Douglas, a bad ass well into his golden years and then all of a sudden, extremely feeble and hard to watch. It looks like the only 2 Harts still pissed at Vince and the WWF are Bret and Martha (Owen's wife). I almost half expected the hitman to show up, especially with that Montreal doublecross finish. Who didn't see that one coming with the Harts in attendance, the show in Canada, and a Canadian fighting for the WWF title. I bet we do hear Bret's thought on this event in his weekly COLUMN in the Calgary Sun.

I've said before how I'm not a big fan of Hunter Hearst Helmsley as a person, but as a performer, its hard to deny he's in the top percentile of every wrestlter who has ever lived. That segment they aired Monday that went over his injury and how he went and finished the match was the best part of the show for me. I was a little surprised to see that Stephanie McMahon was there for the surgery and looked visibly upset. I assumed they were still working the angle, but I am now reading on other news sites that there may actually be something going on between those two...talk about life imitating art.

You could just have predicted it would be a matter of time before the WWF jumped at the chance to fire 2 Cool's Grandmaster Sexay Brian Christopher. He is his old man's son, and since Lawler and the Kat are persona non grata, I wasn't shocked when I read that junior got canned. I waited an extra day to post an update specifically to find out what he was carrying over the border into Canada. From what I've read, it turned out to be a bodybuilding supplement that while illegal in Canada, is perfectly legal in the States. While ignorance is no excuse, I doubt any other wrestler in the good graces of the company and/or Vince McMahon finding themselves in the same situation would have found themselves stuck with this fate. I can see both sides to this, and the more I think about this, it is a pretty lame reason. I doubt he would have brought it if he was aware of it being illegal in Canada, and its nitpicking since I'm sure the majority of his peers in the ring brought the same thing into Canada in their veins. I'd keep an eye on KINGLAWLER.COM to see what (if anything) Jerry or Brian have to say about it. They do have the news report from the WMC-TV5 website posted there, as well as a bunch of photos of the Kat in a bathing suit from a recent trip to Florida...for those of you who like that stuff.

Speaking of illegal substances, I saw on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart that that guy that WCW was interested in a few years ago who had the largest biceps in the world was arrested for selling steroids. Big shocker. I don't even know if this was current news because every damn show I put on is a repeat during this time of the year, but it was new news to me. I remember they showed him on WCW once at a fitness convention Goldberg was at??? Or is my memory making this up with bits I remember from other shows? I do remember he was also featured in at least one wrestling publication at the time...maybe that crappy WOW Magazine. I think he had 28 inch biceps, bigger than some people's waists. He looked ridiculously out of proportion to the rest of his body, and I had thought at the time how stupid he looked, and how stupid he was to do that to himself. My greatest fear for the next 4-6 months was that WCW was going to sign this ass and rush him onto TV.

Boy, the apple sure doesn't fall far from the tree...

In answer to the first question, YES, she is as dumb as her daddy.

Like father, like daughter, she's trying to be a drunk in her early years so she can achieve that C average in college and become the third generation Bush elected to the Presidency.
Screw George's privacy request. The press needs to follow this dumb chick spawned from George's alcohol and cocaine-pickled DNA everywhere she goes.

God, I hate this family...Speaking of things I hate...

More reasons to hate Ebay...

I re-listed a bunch of autographs this week that were up for auction last week. Please view the LIST at your convenience, and buy something at a great price. Anyway, its always funny what gets a bid from week to week. Last week, my LITA AUTOGRAPH didn't get a single bid, and this time it gets a bid on the first day. Well, that's a good thing until you realize the guy who placed the bid has a feedback rating of -1. I don't mind getting bids from people with a zero because it means they're just new. Someone with a -1 generally means that the one auction they won, they screwed the seller by not sending in a payment and honoring their winning bid. Sort of like this guy, lord-razor, whose one comment reads as follows:

User: fastcash2000 (246) Date: Jan-25-00 13:56:34 PST Item: 219875496
Complaint: DO US ALL A FAVOR AND GET OFF EBAY!!! THIS PERSON DID NOT RESPOND OR PAY!!!!!!!

Nice. I can't wait to see if this guy wins the auction and actually pays me for it. I guess I can only hope someone else outbids him or that he has a change of character and mails me a check.

Fear Factor, coming soon...

I keep seeing ads for Fear Factor which is a new show hosted by my favorite comedian Joe Rogan. Joe has written about the show in the past on his WEBSITE, although (at the time I write this) he hasn't updated his site for a while, and it looks as though for now I'm doing more promotion for this show than he is.

Something else I forgot about was these two songs I downloaded from Napster. They're both by this kid Derek Dubois who is either 14 or 16, I can't remember...

This first one is about how he wants to bang his English teacher Mrs. Dunn. From what I remember, the school had tried to suspend him even though he recorded this at home. Also, I don't think he brought copies into the school. I don't know what the update to all of this is, but when I heard about it the teacher wasn't currently working at the school (too embarrassed???)

The second one is titled Fingers So Golden and is about a lesbian.
