4.5.02 - 5.9.02

I've found wrestling to be kind of depressing lately...
First, they fire Curt Henning and Scott Hall. Two guys I like who were sorely misused in the short time they were there to begin with. From all accounts though, it does sound as though they did themselves in with their bad behavior... Mr. Perfect, being an ass and Hall crawling back into his bottle and doing god knows what else.

Then, the shows just haven't gotten me wanting to watch them. I always tape them so I can skip the commercials, but the tapes are sitting for a week and a half's worth of programming. Not having been watched, my finding that I don't feel like investing the time in sitting through the shows even without commercials rather preferring to just read the results online. I'll go see the PPV at my friend's house tonight not because the card is any good (although hell in the cell is probably a must-see) but because its free and I like playing with my friend's dogs while I'm there.

Now, I'm reading that the British Bulldog was found dead at the age of 39(?). I would guess its from drugs as that's been the publicly known problem he's been having the last few years, but we'll see what the next few days actually find his cause of death to be. Here's another guy who just couldn't keep his shit straight. And it's not surprising to me that this was how he ended up. With a dwindling career, surrounded by people also doing drugs, in a publicly failed marriage filled with domestic violence arrests and restraining orders, with the pain his body is probably in (having to keep working because you've probably saved nothing and need the work more than ever), how does one hooked on drugs stay off drugs? A life that depressing, getting harder and more frustrating all the time, what a shocker that his body was found dead at a relatively young age. Obviously this man was in self-destruct mode for a long time and I don't know the intimate details of the last few years of his life, but I am guessing that ther is a lot more people close to him could have done to save his life.

The only thing I can see as a positive from this is that some other guys like Scott Hall finally get a wake-up call from this death. However, you know that probably isn't going to happen as the losses of guys like Louie Spiccoli (someone much closer to Hall than Bulldog) should have already served as that shock of reality Hall and others need.

Back in the day when I watched wrestling as a kid in the 80's the British bulldogs and the Hart Foundation were my 2 all-time favorite tag teams. I was shocked with how bloated, sick, and out of shape he ended up a few years ago when I met him in-person back when I went and followed these guys around getting autographs to sell. That was the time period where he and Neidhart were both in WCW together.

I once watched those two entertain me for a good 20 minutes in the lobby trying to find a credit card between the two of them that still had the ability to buy a plane ticket to fly someone in to the city they were in at the time. One was on the cellphone and loudly yelling the other's name across the lobby trying to get him to come to the phone. They flew in someone, if I remember correctly whom we had referred to as "lemon-lime" because of the bright green dress she had worn the last time we saw her with wrestlers down in South Florida. The only thing we could really assume out of all we had observed was that she was some kind of hook-up for drugs. My memory is terrible with details, I don't have any actual proof, and some of the other guys I traveled with at the time could probably tell it better than I just did. Also, it is totally guesswork about it being drug-related, but as they say... if it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, and walks like a duck, it's probably a duck. I can say that the two of them came off as really scummy and sloppy back then just in their appearnce regardless of any shady public behavior we happened to watch.

I did get to catch up on a few movies this last week including seeing Spider-Man and Attack of the Clones (what a crap title) in the theater. I finally just downloaded Scorpion King onto my computer because I knew I'd never make it into the theater in time to catch it. Since this is my website and I can have any agenda I want as far as talking up something I like or vice-versa, bear with me for another paragraph or two or skip them.

The Rock's movie was fairly good, like a Conan movie with rock music during the action sequences. Although Kelly Hu's boobs (among a few other parts) totally needed to be seen. I don't see a sequel offering anything worth paying for as we've got the picture already...barbarians, swords, etc. there aren't a lot of special effects like in the Mummy pictures to make a sequel radically different than the original.

Spider-Man has been the best move I've seen in a long time and I'm sure being a long-time mark for the character and having read most if not all of the comic books helps my bias a little...I am sure I'll be buying that on DVD the day it hits stores.

I totally went into Star Wars wanting to crap on it, but by the time I left, I felt I mostly enjoyed it. I noticed Lucas actually had a co-screenwriter this time and the script made a lot more sense and wasn't ponderous with stupid things like "midichlorides" and children and annoying CGI characters "accidentally" saving the fate of the entire universe. They also chose this time not to kill off the two most interesting characters in the movie. Obi-Wan's mullet was a bit much, and that guy playing young Darth Vader was possibly the worst actor known to man. Every line he delivered was brutal. They're just not having luck casting that role at any age. They did dress Jimmy Smits up like a homosexual, and the whole Boba Fett lineage becoming a central issue in this story was unnecessary,  and I have no idea how a character with like 5 minutes of combined screen time in the original 3 movies and dies a pathetic death totally unworthy of someone they then put over so much in these new movies deserves the spot. Christopher Lee is an awesome casting choice, and if you haven't seen it yet, I'll just say Yoda redeems the whole movie with his scenes.

I also really dug Resident Evil and actually paid twice to see it in the theatre, It's a great horror movie but I don't feel like typing much more so the only thing I'll mention is you gotta love Milla and that "clean platter" of hers. Oh, I also caught Tigerland on HBO late last night and it was just awesome. If you want to see an one kick-ass movie, remember Tigerland. It is directed by that ass Joel Schumacker who ruined the Batman movies via his gay agenda with nipples on the costumes, pink & purple lighting, etc. but that popping sound you may have heard was his head coming out of his ass long enough to direct this movie.

Okay, I think the second part of the new Star Wars movie is done downloading now, I'm going to go watch that again and go to sleep. Now go buy a t-shirt, an autograph, or one of the new cafepress items you can see our designs on by clicking HERE... or screw off for not supporting this website and more importantly for not supporting me.

Congratulations going out to Michael Dessingue who was the winner of the signed Kurt Angle autograph giveaway last month. The next drawing will be on the 4th of July for a Rock signed 8x10 so all you Scorpion King fans register now.

I bought a couple of old Blue Demon comic books on ebay a couple of weeks ago, and they're pretty cool. Looking through them, they seem to be panels consisting of photos straight from the movies that are printed in a Sepia tone. I figured since these seem to be hard to find (deduced after my friends who are major comic book dealers said they have never seen them) that maybe when I pick them up, I'll scan them and archive them on the website for all visitors to the website to "flip" through. I will work on making them available on the features page in the next day or two.

What the hell has happened to the WWF? Who keeps crapping in the toilet and not flushing in those production meetings? And now they're the WWE instead of the WWF??? I think this is a sign that they're on the slippery slope of a long ride downhill for their business. If they had any brains at all, they'd sign Goldberg (now that he's free from his old contract) yesterday, and throw him on TV tomorrow even though he can't wrestle for awhile because of a busted wing. Maybe that isn't even enough to undo the damage done with putting the Big Show in the nWo.

Its really sad that my favorite show to watch these days is their MTV Sunday night Heat where I get to see Raven, Justin Credible, and Tommy Dreamer wrestle solid matches every weekend.

Albert is absolutely repulsive wrestling live in front of thousands and on TV in front of millions in just those shorts. If he's going to skip the shirt (which is a decision that he was entirely too fat to choose), at least wear the long pants. He looks like he lost a bet to his buddies at his favorite gay bar. At least he shaves down now, remember when he was all hairy when he first got on TV with Droz? I have to tape Raw and not watch it live specifically so I can fast forward through any potential Albert matches.

Eddy Guerrero sure does love that mullet. I could care less for watching him wrestle, and I am still more looking forward to Rey Misterio showing up, but his promos spoken in that brutal "hispbonics" of his are great.

We have a whole bunch of new merchandise for sale featuring our unique and original wrestling designs. Items like visors, aprons, frosted mugs, golf shirts, women's tank tops, stainless steel travel mugs, baseball jerseys, and tile coasters.  I decided to wait until I saw both of the "new" show formats before doing a new update. The new look for Raw was pretty interesting. I like any set better than that stupid set for Smackdown with that big giant fist, but I thought the new entrance, the revised logos and updated graphics all worked, and it might have been an even better idea to make the 2 shows even more distinctly individual from one another, but this was fine.

Anyway, the Matches on Raw were for the most part pretty enjoyable, I liked that they let some of these guys actually wrestle. Eddy Guerrero will be a good feud for RVD, and if Guerrero can stay out of trouble, it should elevate him pretty quickly back into the mix of things. Maybe they should do a 3-way dance with D-LO Brown over the intellectual rights to the frogsplash, and who should have the exclusive rights to use it in the WWF.

I definitely didn't mind not seeing Rock, Austin, etc. on both shows swallowing up all of the TV time. I don't think anyone was genuinely surprised to see Austin put on Monday's show, but I wonder what promises were made to him to get him to actually come back to work and stop acting like a petulant over-priveleged crybaby bitch.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Rey Misterio Jr. in the WWF, and was excited to read he was coming. Also coming back to television is Chris Benoit who it seems is going to be walking into a major push that seems to already be starting without him.

I love seeing Hogan get the response that he's gotten from the fans. I also laugh at the fact that there must be many others in the business sitting at home all bent out of shape that at 50 years of age, he's still the top guy and they're not even working.

I think one thing that was probably considered with the split was in separating the nWo from some of the other talent. I can't remember everyone who has been outspoken, but I'm sure the WWF knows who was least happy to have Hall and Nash back and they're probably in the other group to avoid making the environment worse for everyone.

I have a douchebag I know in Texas who goes and gets autographs like I used to do who had emailed me asking if I would sell him some of my old 8x10's that I had still unsigned. I sent him a bunch of them and he was supposed to send back some autographs. I finally got a few things back from him, and I'll put them in with the other inventory later in the week but in the meantime you can click some of the thumbnails below to see larger scans of what I've gotten from him and email me if you want to buy anything.
